Peace in Music
I am an American Contemporary Instrumental PianoScapes Artist with Storytelling and Progressive influences. From my friend and producer Will Ackerman - "Kori's music has evolved in its own complexity and richness over the years, but the strength of her artist voice is powerful and singular to unify all of her work as purely her own."
A musician's path to her/his muse is sometimes an easy one. Other times, it is filled with potential pitfalls or unexpected obstacles. Kori Linae Carothers faced just that when, during a kindergarten health screening at the age of 5, it was discovered she was deaf in her left ear. Her young peers found out and the teasing began. In addition, throughout elementary and high school, Kori was constantly told she would never become a musician. Undeterred, she kept learning and practicing, never surrendering her dream. Despite these discouragements, Carothers was passionate about her calling and now, years later, she is an acclaimed pianist and keyboard player with four albums to her credit. Clearly, she is an example of a person following her muse with courage, humor, and determination. - Bill Binkelman

Hey you! It has been since 2015 since I released Fire in the Rainstorm - and now I am working on a Christmas Album.
The album is centered around the Victorian/Regency Era, but will have a 21st Century twist! Think Charles Dickens meets Progress/Contemporary Instrumental! It will be recorded at Imaginary Road Studios! The cool thing is that you will be able to take part in its making. I will be announcing a special VIP membership that is designed for you in mind. You have been following me for a long time, and it is time to take things to the next level - join my Peace in Music Journey Tribe today so that you won't miss a thing!

Hi Kori here... my finger is still in its splint! BUT, good news I am healing, and I am guessing in the next month I will take it off and you KNOW I am happy about that. Performances are being held off until further notice. Why? Oh I am in the middle of working on my Christmas album. Traveling and performing right now would distract me from working on that album.. and you KNOW how distracted I can get!! I can play now without my hand aching which is a really GOOD thing! Enjoy your week!

Hey Everyone! Happy New Year! I hope you all had a happy Christmas, and a wonderful New Year celebration. As I am planning out 2018, performances are put on the back burner for now. I am writing and arranging a Christmas album, which is taking an incredible amount of research. Also I am going way out of my comfort zone to learn the music ( reading music is not my strength! ) I have found arranging music to be really fun though, and I feel by doing this will strengthen my music skills! Cheers!

Several months ago I was asked to compose a special arrangement of a hymn from my church and perform it at a Church Devotional on Sunday July 2, 2017. I really had a great time putting it together, and when it came time to perform it, wow, I was nervous. I did pull it off, and it was beautiful! My son Tyler and hubs drove me to and from the gig. THAT was fun!
July 5, 2017 -
Kori here, I do not have any upcoming performances as of today. I am working on new music and collaborating with a few people, so that is why I am not venturing out in the world to perform. If you want me to come to your area, please feel fee to contact me! Peace in Music... Kori

When I play Kori Linae Carothers' new album Fire in the Rainstorm, it feels as though a soft warm blanket was gently placed over you as you lie there listening Kori talk. Roosevelt Roy Jr.
I live with hearing loss in my left ear. We found out when I was 5 that I had over 90% hearing loss. I basically have no hearing in my left ear. I was told when I was younger that I would never make it as a musician.. and yet I stand proudly and grateful that I have music in my life. Never tell me I cannot do anything, because baby - I will and prove to the world I can and will conquer!
Throughout my life I have talked with many people that have hearing loss. I was not sure if there were organizations out there that were working to find a cure for hearing loss as well as promote hearing health, until now. One day I decided to research the internet to find such a group and found Hearing Health Foundation. I was so impressed with their mission statement: Hearing Health Foundation's mission is to prevent and cure hearing loss through groundbreaking research. I am proud to say that a percentage of "Fire in the Rainstorm's" sales go to Hearing Health Foundation to help with their mission by preventing and curing hearing loss with their fine research!
I was recently diagnosed in having Spasmodic Dysphonia - which is a vocal disorder. Each day is different from the next. I really took for granted being able to speak. Since I was diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia, I've gone through various stages in my psyche. I was angry at first, then I was extremely depressed, and finally accepted that I yes, I have this. I am so grateful for the medical technology nowadays so that I can receive treatment.
Oh? What IS it? From the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Website: It is a neurological condition that involves "spasms" of the vocal cords causing interruptions in speech and affecting the voice quality. SD can cause the voice to break up or cause a strained or strangled quality.
The bottom line is, I won't allow this to take away my happiness. I deal with it on a daily basis. Is there a cure? No. Is there treatment? Yes!! I receive botox injections into my vocal cords to give me the ability to speak without the spasms. Even though this is annoying, I will stay the course and do my best at what I do, and that is composing, recording music and releasing music.

Hey Kori here! I have been working on getting licensing for a song JOSEPH KIND JOSEPH since October 2017. GUESS WHAT?!!! After months of writing back and forth - and waiting - and waiting and waiting some more - I received licensing permission. I knew I had to have this song on the Christmas album it is gorgeous! My arrangement of this song has been challenging, but I hope I can do justice to it.

Hi there! I have had a busy weekend! How about you? I experienced a few technical glitches on Friday... My email service sent out a responder email with 3 free downloads! If you received it, you're welcome! Haha. Sometimes technology and me mix really well, and sometimes I don't do so well with tech!
This week LIVE with KORI will continue - with very special guest Keith Richie. Keith is an amazing ambient composer... I like to think his music is ambient soundtrack storytelling. He has a unique take on composing and what influences his writings. I think you will LOVE his music.
I am also going to go to Grammy Museum in LA on Saturday May 19th to the FLOW concert. I will be able to see my friends and meet more new people! I am VERY excited!
I also released a preview of a song I am working on titled "Remember". It is a story about a character named Killashandra. One of my favorite authors - Anne McCaffrey introduced her to me in her books about The Crystal Singer. I can relate to the character really well, and I think that is why I loved this trilogy.
